Hi Mike and Leanne, August is a good time to bird here in Vancouver as both shorebird and land bird migration is starting to pick up. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Ladner is a good place for both shore and songbirds, it’s definitely a must visit at anytime of the year in my mind. If you have a spotting scope I’d also recommend Boundary Bay around high tide (park at the south end of 104th St. and walk along the dyke). Closer to downtown Vancouver itself, I’d suggest Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver, Iona Beach Regional Park near the airport, and Stanley Park around Lost Lagoon. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions!
